Simple Tips to Create a Cozy Space
Simple Ways to Make Your Guests Feel Welcome
There’s something incredibly satisfying about having a guest space that’s always ready-calm, comfortable, and filled with thoughtful touches. Whether it’s family visiting for the holidays or a last-minute friend stay, I love keeping our guest room fresh and inviting year-round.
Living in Sydney and Loving Linen Sheets
Living in Sydney, I’ve come to appreciate the versatility and breathability of linen sheets. They’re perfect for all seasons- cool and breezy in the summer, warm and cozy during those cooler nights. The natural texture adds a touch of relaxed elegance, making my bed feel like a constant retreat, no matter the weather.
Cozy Bedding That Feels Like a Treat
The foundation of any welcoming guest room is cozy bedding. I’ve been loving Quince sheets—they’re incredibly soft, giving that luxury hotel feel but at a fraction of the price. The neutral tones complement my calm color palette perfectly, and they wash beautifully, making them a practical choice for guest spaces.
Light & Privacy with Two Pages Bamboo Shades
One of my favorite design decisions was installing Two Pages bamboo shades on our guest room window. They filter just enough light to keep the room bright during the day while providing the perfect amount of privacy at night. The natural texture adds warmth and seamlessly ties into the neutral layers throughout the space.
A Thoughtful Tray for Guests
A simple tray on the bed can make a big difference. I like to style it with essentials: a glass carafe with water, a candle, a fresh hand towel, and a welcoming note. Sometimes I include a small gift or a local treat to make guests feel extra special. If space allows, adding a luggage stand keeps things neat and shows I’ve thought of their convenience.
Little Extras That Make a Difference
Small touches like a cozy throw blanket, a sound machine, or a bedside book can make the room feel lived-in and loved. I also like to remember a few essentials that guests may need- such as an extra charger, a Wi-Fi password note, spare hangers and fresh amenities-so they feel completely taken care of from the moment they arrive. Keeping decor minimal but intentional-calm and uncluttered-embodies the simplicity I cherish in everyday living.
Final thoughts…
Creating a welcoming guest room doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s all about comfort, serene tones, and thoughtful details. A few carefully chosen pieces—like soft bedding, luxury pillows, beautiful window shades, and welcoming bedside accents—can make your guests feel right at home and never want to leave.
